Hackers Hit HBO, Steal 'Game of Thrones' Info

HBO today confirmed that it was striking by a cyber attack, which has resulted in upcoming episodes of its original shows as well equally content from its striking drama Game of Thrones leaking online.

HBO did non immediately respond to a request for comment, only a spokesperson told Amusement Weekly that it "recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information."

The company did not reveal what was stolen, but in a memo to employees, HBO CEO Richard Plepler confirmed that the haul included "some of our programming," EW says.

Hackers contacted journalists on Sunday night via e-mail to notify them of the breach. They've reportedly stolen ane.5TB of data from HBO. Thus far, they've posted an episode of Ballers and Room 104 online, also as "written fabric" from next week's episode of Game of Thrones, EW says.

In 2022, the first 4 episodes of the drama's fifth season leaked online, and GOT has long been a favorite among pirates. That has done piddling to dampen fans' enthusiasm; the season premiere of the latest season saw a 50 pct bound over final season's premiere, a tape for HBO, the New York Times reports.

In May, a hacker posted the first episode of Netflix'south Orange is the New Black online prior to its release. The hacker(s) demanded a ransom, which went unpaid, prompting the release of nine more episodes.
